02 Jetlag & Travel Recovery

Land in Ubud.
Then truly arrive.

A 150-minute restorative composition for the body that has just crossed time zones. We slow the nervous system, reawaken the gut clock, and whisper to the pineal gland — until the long flight finally lets go, and your first night in Ubud becomes the deepest sleep in weeks.

What Travel Actually Leaves Behind

Jetlag isn’t one thing.
It is three.

A long flight disturbs the body in three distinct languages. The Jetlag Recovery Ritual answers all three at once.

i. Circadian

The Clock Out of Sync

The pineal gland still thinks it is yesterday afternoon — or tomorrow morning. Sleep arrives at the wrong hour, or refuses to arrive at all.

we answer with: pineal-zone reflex & theta-band sound bath

ii. Somatic

The Body of the Cabin

Hours folded into the same posture leave the upper trapezius locked, the diaphragm shallow, and the legs heavy. The body feels both stiff and strangely weightless.

we answer with: 90-min slow-rhythm aromatherapy massage

iii. Visceral

The Gut Clock Forgotten

Digestion has its own circadian rhythm — pressurised cabins and irregular meals scramble it. The belly feels heavy, slow, foreign.

we answer with: clockwise abdominal therapy & warming compress

The 150-Minute Arc

Time, slowly
re-set.

Four phases mapped against a single clock face — the first 10 minutes ground you, the heart of the ritual realigns body and gut, and the closing phase is gently culinary.

Phase I · The Opening

The first ten minutes
we tune the room.

Two small acts. One outcome — the body knows it has landed.

01
5 minutes

Magnesium Foot Wash

Warm water, magnesium bath salt, lavender essential blend. The feet hold thousands of nerve endings — bathing them slowly is the fastest somatic signal to lower sympathetic activity.

outcome — the first softening of travel-shoulders.

02
5 minutes

4·7·8 Breath & Singing Bowl

A guided breath sequence layered beneath the long, steady tone of a Tibetan singing bowl. The vibration travels through the chest cavity; the brain follows, settling into theta — the gateway to sleep.

outcome — mental looping begins to quiet.

Phase II · 90 minutes

The aromatic
slow descent.

Sixty minutes of full-body aromatherapy massage — followed by a final thirty minutes dedicated to the head, neck, shoulder, and pineal-zone activation.

00′ — 30′ leg lines

Lower Body Drainage

Long, ascending strokes from ankle to hip release the heaviness left by hours of cabin sitting. The legs lighten visibly.

30′ — 60′ spine & back

Spinal Corridor & Back

Slow, repetitive strokes either side of the spine, opening the shoulder blade fans, working out the held tension of the seat-back.

60′ — 90′ head · neck · shoulder · pineal

Pineal-Zone Activation

The closing thirty minutes work the upper trapezius, the base of the skull, the levator scapulae, around the scapulae, the upper pectoral, and any specific trigger points — finished with a gentle pineal-zone activation through the brow and crown.

Phase III · 20 minutes

Wake the gut clock —
clockwise.

The viscera have a circadian rhythm of their own. Twenty minutes of gentle, directional belly therapy realigns it — followed by a warm ginger and sirih-leaf compress.

  1. 10′
    Step One

    Circular Colon Massage

Light to medium pressure, slow and steady — bottom-right, up, across, down, in clockwise procession to mirror the colon.

  2. 5′
    Step Two

    Solar Plexus Release

Gentle hold beneath the sternum — press, inhale three counts, release on the exhale. The diaphragm finally lets go.

  3. 3′
    Step Three

    Lower Belly Warming

Warm VCO and ginger oil rubbed over the lower abdomen — a signal of safety to the enteric nervous system.

  4. 2′
    Step Four

    Stillness

Hands resting still on the belly, breath quiet, attention soft. The gut clock takes over from here.

Phase IV · Restoration

The first meal
of your real arrival.

The ritual closes at the table. A bowl of our handcrafted Eling Super Soup — moringa leaf, ginger, lemongrass, a touch of raw honey — light enough for the still-recovering belly, mineral-rich enough to help re-anchor the body to local time.

Served with warmed ginger-lemongrass infusion. Served slowly. Served in the kind of silence that makes the second night the deepest sleep you have had in a month.

Why Pineal Activation Matters

The body’s small,
most loyal clock.

The pineal gland produces melatonin — the hormone that tells your body when it is night. After a long flight, this rhythm is the first thing to disorient and the last thing to recover.

Light, sustained pressure across the brow centre and crown, paired with the slow lavender-led aromatherapy, encourages the gland to re-synchronise with local night.

clinical signature: lavender + theta-band sound + reflex pressure.
